I climbed up onto a formation with my painting gear to get this perspective. I usually use a 9×12 canvas when I am painting plein air but that format just wasn’t right for capturing the vastness of the Canyonlands. I pulled out a second 9×12 and set the two canvas’ side by side on my French easel to give me a much more horizontal format to paint on and a dyptich was born. In the distance in the right panel you can see Sixshooter Peak.
