First Light on the Palisades

The idea for this painting came to me while fish on the Madison in Montana but in truth it could be a painting of so many places I have seen. The cliffs over the Buffalo River in the Ozarks of Arkansas, the Gros Ventre Wilderness area of Wyoming and so on. I am artistically drawn to the lighting of dawn and evening, both different but also very similar. I wanted this painting to portray first light and the promise of a new day in wild country.
